A peaceful atmosphere To enjoy in the extensive lowland area between Cesena and Cesenatico. The paths are all even. With no steep climbs that are really challenging. No tricky downhill parts to really focus on. Just flat land. Flat land. And more flat land. Among small villages. The aromas of vineyards. Past old farmhouses. And peach trees in bloom. A superb tour to enjoy and savour. Along one of the world’s best kept examples of Roman centuriation.
Roman centuriation routes. Centuriation in the Cesena area was carried out between 268 and 187 BC and is one of the best preserved examples in Europe. The term Centuriation refers to a method of land division into square grids of approximately 700 m, with access guaranteed by a network of side roads running East-West (decumanus) and North-South (cardo).
