CESENA
Cesena is a historical town with many traditions.

It is also known as the town of the Popes, and is the birthplace of three Popes. One of the best examples of Italian and European humanist culture is the Biblioteca Malatestiana (Malatestian Library), dating from 1447 and commissioned by Malatesta Novello. Today the library is still intact, and the furnishings and books it houses are well-preserved. Like the rest of the Romagna area, Cesena hosts a lively theatre programme; the main theatre at Cesena is the Teatro Bonci, in the very heart of the town. The fourteenth-century Rocca (Fortress) peacefully dominates the town, along with the Santuario della Madonna del Monte (Sanctuary of the Madonna of the Mountain), a destination for pilgrimages and religious ceremonies.
